Gabriel Tan fundou o seu gabinete de design e arquitectura com morada em Singapura e no Porto. Trabalha os territórios do artesanato, cultura e tecnologia. Explora novas formas de interpretar o luxo e quebrar arquétipos. Desenhou mobiliário para Blå Station, Menu, Design Within Reach, The Conran Shop, Ishinomaki Lab, Authentics e Abstracta. É diretor criativo de Turn handles, Origin e da Ariake. Vencedor do Prémio IDEA da Sociedade de Designers Industriais da América e dos Prémios Japan Good Design Award e Pesident Design, tem exposto o seu trabalho em exposições e feiras de design em todo o mundo. É professor convidado no Lasalle College of the Arts, Universidade de Singapura, Universidade de Oregon, Pratt Institute e também atuou como membro do júri no Cannes Lions Festival e no Core77 Design Awards.

Gabriel Tan has a design and architecture office based in Singapore and Porto. Works within the territories of handicrafts, culture and technology and explores new ways to interpret luxury and break archetypes. Blå Station, Menu, Design Within Reach, The Conran Shop, Ishinomaki Lab, Authentics and Abstracta were some of the brands for which he designed furniture. He is also the creative director of Turn handles, Origin and Ariake. Winner of the IDEA Award from the Society of Industrial Designers of America, the Japan Good Design Award and Pesident Design Awards, Gabriel has exhibited his work at several design exhibitions and fairs around the world. He is a visiting professor at Lasalle College of the Arts, University of Singapore, University of Oregon, Pratt Institute and also served as a jury member at the Cannes Lions Festival and Core77 Design Awards.

Marta Brandão

Marta Brandão é arquitecta. Estudou no Porto na FAUP e na École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) ,na Suiça. Entre 2008 e 2012, trabalhou no atelier de Jacques Herzog e Pierre de Meuron. Na EPFL formou-se em Complexidade de Design e Grande Edifícios. Tem sido uma investigadora do Programa Design Complex. Em conjunto com Mário Sousa, criou o gabinete MIMA onde é responsável pelo desenho, supervisão e desenvolvimento de novos projetos, design de interiores e PR. Em 2013 ganhou o Prémio Dona Antónia que distingue mulheres portuguesas pelos seus valores pessoais e profissionais.

Mário Sousa

Arquitecto e Diretor Criativo, Mário Sousa estudou no Porto no FAUP. Em setembro de 2007, integrou o gabinete de Richter & Dahl Rocha e colaborou com eles na École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) durante sete anos. Em 2011, fundou o gabinete de arquitetura MIMA juntamente com Marta Brandão e mergulhou na investigação de esquemas de imobiliário e métodos de construção prefabricada, que iniciara já nos tempos de estudante. No MIMA é o diretor criativo e sistematicamente surge com novas ideias para novos produtos.

 

Marta Brandão is an architect. She studied in Porto at FAUP and at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), in Switzerland. Between 2008 and 2012, she worked in the atelier of Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron and at EPFL she graduated in Design Complexity and Large Buildings. She has been a researcher for the Design Complex Program. Marta founded MIMA together with Mário Sousa, being responsible for the design, supervision and development of new projects, interior design and PR. In 2013, she won the Dona Antónia Prize that distinguishes Portuguese women for their personal and professional accomplishments.

 

Architect and Creative Director, Mário Sousa studied in Porto at FAUP. In September 2007, he joined Richter & Dahl Rocha's office and collaborated with them at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) for seven years. In 2011, he founded the architecture firm MIMA together with Marta Brandão and immersed himself in the investigation of real estate schemes and prefabricated construction methods, a subject he had already started to study as a student. At MIMA he is the creative director and systematically comes up with new ideas for new products

Designer. Nasceu em 1974 no sul de França. Trabalha diversas disciplinas e materiais para criar um corpo unificado e uma narrativa com raízes profundas com a natureza. Formou-se em escultura na École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Appliqués et des Métiers d’Art, depois em design de mobiliário na célebre Arts Décoratifs. O background permite-lhe trabalhar desde o mobiliário, interiores, a colecções de edição limitada. O percurso, ligado à escultura, demonstra respeito pelo passado, mas também a vontade de que as suas criações perdurem no tempo. Desenhou para diversas marcas e editoras como Hermès, Ligne Roset, Cinna, Ceccotti Collezioni, Bernhardt Design, Sèvres, Mobilier National, Dior, Baccarat ou La Chance.

Designer. Born in 1974 in the south of France, Noé graduated in sculpture at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Appliqués et Métiers d’Art, then in furniture design at the famous Arts Décoratifs. His works are a result of a mix and dialogue of different disciplines and materials to create a unified body and a narrative with deep roots in nature. The journey, which it´s strongly linked to sculpture, shows respect for that past, but also the desire that his creations can last in time. His background allowed him to work from furniture, to interiors and limited edition collections, designing for several publishers and brands such as Hermès, Ligne Roset, Cinna, Ceccotti Collezioni, Bernhardt Design, Sèvres, Mobilier National, Dior, Baccarat or La Chance.

Estúdio de Arquitetura formado por Rafael Aranda, Carme Pigem e Ramon Vilalta. Concluíram a formação em Arquitetura na Escola Técnica Superior d’Arquitetura de Vallès, em 1987, e, desde então, trabalham juntos no próprio estúdio RCR Arquitectes, em Olot, a cidade onde nasceram. Prémio Pritzker 2017, Prémio Nacional para a Cultura na Arquitetura, em 2005, na Catalunha, Chevalier e Officier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres 2008 e 2014, Membros Honorários do Instituto Americano da Arquitetura (AIA) 2010, do RIBA Royal Institute of British Architects 2012 e Medalha de Ouro da Académie d’Architecture 2015, assim como da Generalitat de Catalunya 2018. Participaram em várias exposições internacionais como III Salon International de l’Architecture em Paris; na Bienal de Veneza em anos sucessivos, no MoMA de New York e na Global Ends da Galeria Toto Ma, em Tóquio. Entre os projetos que concretizaram destaca-se o estádio de atletismo Tossols Basil, o teatro público La Lira e o edifício Europa Square ,na Catalunha, a biblioteca de Krook na Bélgica e o Museu Soulages em França.

Architecture Studio formed by Rafael Aranda, Carme Pigem and Ramon Vilalta. They completed their training in Architecture at Vallès School of Architecture, in 1987, and since then they have worked together at the RCR Arquitectes studio in Olot, the city where they were born. Pritzker Prize 2017, National Prize for Culture in Architecture, in 2005, in Catalonia, Chevalier and Officier of l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres 2008 and 2014, Honorary Members of the American Institute of Architecture (AIA) 2010, of the RIBA Royal Institute of British Architects 2012 and Gold Medal from the Académie d'Architecture 2015, as well as of the Government of Catalonia 2018, are some of the awards this studio received. RCR Aranda Pigem Vilalta Arquitectes has participated in several international exhibitions such as III Salon International de l'Architecture in Paris, the MoMA in New York, the Global Ends at the Toto Ma Gallery in Tokyo and the Venice Biennale for several years. Among the projects carried out from RCA stands out the Tossols Basil athletics stadium, the public theater La Lira and the Europa Square building in Catalonia, the Krook library in Belgium and the Soulages Museum in France.

Designer. Nascido em França em 1976. Sam Baron vive e trabalha entre França e Portugal. Tem como âncora das respetivas criações a investigação artística e funcional, sem omitir narrativas culturais e históricas. Procura colocar a sua visão na vida quotidiana. Recebeu o "Grande Prémio da Criação da Cidade de Paris" na categoria design durante a edição de 2010 da Maison & Objet. Philippe Starck selecionou-o como um dos dez designers importantes da próxima década. Recebeu um Cubo de Prata do NYC Art Director Club e foi integrado como membro do júri. A associação criativa AD&D de Londres premiou-o com um Yellow Pencil para a edição da revista Colors de que foi curador. O seu trabalho é apresentado com regularidade na imprensa internacional: Monocle, Wallpaper Magazine, New York Times, Le Monde, Elle Decor e Vogue Living. Foi o diretor criativo na área de design da “Fabrica”, entre 2007 a 2018.

Designer. Nascido em 1989 nas Caldas da Rainha. Frequentou o curso de Design de Ambientes da Escola Superior de Artes e Design das Caldas da Raínha. O seu projeto de final de curso, um pavilhão temporário intitulado “Nice to meet you again“, foi seleccionado para a exposição Design Center, inserida no Ano Português do Design.

A paixão pelas matérias naturais, em especial a pedra, surge por influência do avô e do pai, ambos industriais do sector, e sempre teve um papel de relevo nos seus projetos. Esta proximidade resulta na criação do seu próprio estúdio de design – Maettone - onde aplica uma abordagem experimental e paralelamente pragmática focada na matéria-prima e na criação de novos produtos e soluções aplicadas a diversas disciplinas como a arte, o design e a arquitectura.

A trabalhar em proximidade com marcas e empresas do sector, o resultado são objetos que valorizam o mármore português através de um diálogo que cruza matéria, tecnologia e mão humana e que têm sido destacados como representativos do design nacional em feiras e eventos como “Made in Portugal Naturally”, na Maison&Objet em Paris, “Design em São Bento” no Palácio de São Bento, residência oficial do primeiro-ministro português, e mais recentemente no “Stand Portugal” na Ambiente Frankfurt.

Designer. Born in 1989 in Caldas da Rainha, Samuel attended the Environmental Design course at the School of Arts and Design of Caldas da Raínha and his final project, a temporary pavilion entitled “Nice to meet you again“, was selected for the Design Center exhibition, part of the Portuguese Year of Design.

His passion for natural materials, especially stone, arises from the influence of his father and grandfather, both industrialists of the mineral resources sector, and has always played a prominent role in his projects. This proximity resulted in the creation of his own design studio - Maettone - where he applies an experimental and parallel pragmatic approach focused on raw materials and the creation of new products and solutions applied to several disciplines such as art, design and architecture.

Working closely with brands and companies in the sector he creates objects that generate value toPortuguese marble through a dialogue that crosses material, technology and human hand, and that have been highlighted as representative on national design at fairs and events such as “Made in Portugal Naturally ”, Maison & Objet in Paris,“ Design in São Bento ”at the São Bento Palace, the official residence of the Portuguese Prime Minister, and more recently at“ Portugal´s Stand”at Ambiente Frankfurt.

Designer. Nasceu em 1990, no Porto. Em 2009 ingressou no curso de Design Industrial no Instituto Politécnico do Porto. Em 2012, frequentou o mestrado de Design de Produto na Escola Superior de Artes e Design das Caldas da Rainha, tendo como tema de tese “Como o corpo molda o objeto e como o objeto molda o corpo”. Em 2014, foi selecionada para a mostra POP’s (Projetos de Origem Portuguesa), da Fundação de Serralves e escolhida para a Mostra de Jovens Criadores Portugueses. Em 2015 representa Portugal na categoria de Design de Equipamento, na Bienal da Comunidade de Países de Língua Portuguesa em Maputo, Moçambique. Em 2017, colaborou com o estúdio Ciszak Dalmas em Madrid. Atualmente, trabalha em nome próprio em colaboração com a indústria portuguesa, lecciona a disciplina de projeto na Escola Superior de Media Artes e Design do Politécnico do Porto. Em 2018 foi distinguida pela conceituada revista Domus pelo trabalho “Movimento Marcado”.

Designer. Born in 1990, in Porto, Soraia joined the Industrial Design course at the Polytechnic Institute of Porto in 2009 and in 2012, attended the Master of Product Design at the School of Arts and Design of Caldas da Rainha, with the subject of thesis being "How the body shapes the object and how the object shapes the body". In 2014, she was selected for the exhibition POP’s (Projects of Portuguese Origin), from the Serralves Foundation and chosen for the Exhibition of Young Portuguese Creators. In 2015 she was invited to represented Portugal in the Equipment Design category, at the Biennial of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries in Maputo, Mozambique and, in 2017, collaborated with the Ciszak Dalmas studio in Madrid. Currently, she collaborates with the Portuguese industry, teaching the project discipline at School of Media Arts and Design of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto. In 2018 she was distinguished by the renowned magazine Domus for her work “Movimento Marcado”.

Designer e diretor artístico. Nasceu em França em 1979. É formado pela École Boulle, em Paris. Lusodescendente, veio para Portugal em 2001, onde encontra as respetivas raízes. Descobre um país rico em indústria, com uma forte tradição artesanal e fica obcecado pela beleza dos processos industriais e pelas matérias. Depois de várias colaborações, fundou, em 2008, o próprio estúdio, desenhando objetos, mobiliário e cenografia.

Criou várias marcas de design como Riluc, Haymann Editions, Blackcork, Marm ou INOT. Tronou-se director artístico da centenária Topázio.

Designer and artistic director. Born in France in 1979, Toni Grilo graduated from École Boulle, in Paris. Portuguese descent he came to Portugal in 2001, where he found his roots. He discovered a country rich in industry, with strong artisanal traditions and became obsessed with the beauty of industrial processes and materials. After several collaborations, in 2008 he founded his own studio, designing objects, furniture and scenography.

He created several design brands such as Riluc, Haymann Editions, Blackcork, Marm or INOT and also became the artistic director of the centenary Topázio, the oldest and respected Portuguese company in the art of creating and producing silver pieces.

Arquitecta, nasceu em 1961 em Pero Pinheiro. É licenciada pela Faculdade de Arquitectura de Lisboa, em 1984.

A partir de 1993 desenvolveu a actividade de forma liberal e criou projetos de habitação, comércio, serviços e interiores.

Nascida no seio da indústria das rochas ornamentais e atenta aos detalhes, em 2013 iniciou a Formas de Pedra , um projeto de design de equipamento com mármore.

Focada na sustentabilidade do mármore como matéria-prima e consciente da sua finitude, associa o design, no sentido da dignificação do material e na diversificação do uso, aproximando-o da utilidade doméstica.

Participou em várias exposições e eventos: Market Design de Lisboa, Casa Decor em Madrid, Home Week no Porto e ThreeDaysOfDesign em Copenhaga.

Architect, born in 1961, in Pero Pinheiro, Sintra, graduated from the Faculty of Architecture in Lisbon in 1984.

She did a professional internship at the Municipality of Loures and soon started working at the TECTUR studio, where she developed projects for tourism enterprises.

In 1993 she became a freelancer, working for the housing, commerce and services sectors, always with a great focus on interior design.

Born in a family who ran a natural stone industry company, in 2013 she started a design project of marble equipment creating the brand Formas de Pedra.

Focused on the sustainability of marble as a raw material and aware of its finitude, she tries to associate the stone with design, adding value to the material, diversifying its use and bringing it closer to our homes.

She participated in 2 editions of Market Design Lisboa, 3 editions of Casa Decor Madrid and Home Week Porto.

She was a guest speaker in the launch of the Stork brand at Centro Cultural de Belém (CCB), and a guest lecturer, about portuguese stones, in the Architecture course at ISCTE and at ESMAD, Industrial Design.

In 2018, she also participated, in the event “3 days of design” in Copenhagen, under the theme “Creative industries”.
